Basketball Recap: Robinson Comes Up Short

Robinson was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They had to suffer through a 91-51 loss at the hands of the Sickles Gryphons. While losing is never fun, the Knights can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 576th, while the Gryphons are ranked 181st).

Several Knights players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Zyon Floyd, who posted 12 points and five boards. Floyd is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jaden Behel, who put up 17 points.

Sickles found their leader in sophomore Chase Weismiller, who went 8 of 14 from beyond the arc on his way to 33 points and three steals. With that strong performance, Weismiller is now averaging an impressive 15.4 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Eddy Hernandez, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 boards.

Robinson's defeat dropped their record down to 3-12. As for Sickles, their win bumped their record up to 10-8.

Robinson will square off against Plant at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Plant will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something Robinson surely won't give up without a fight. As for Sickles, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 56-51 win against Clearwater on the 11th.
