Northridge is 0-10 against Bountiful since April of 2016 but things could change on Friday. The Knights will be playing in front of their home fans against the RedHawks at 3:30 p.m. Northridge has given up an average of 9.3 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Northridge came into their game on Thursday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 14-3 to Clearfield.
Kaydence Chournos was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and two RBI. That home run marked the first that she launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Berklee Larsen, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Bountiful came tearing into Thursday's contest with ten straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Vikings a 12-0 shutout. Considering the RedHawks have won eight matches by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
The team relied heavily on Isabeau Hoff, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Aimee Moore was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2.
Bountiful always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .576. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Viewmont only posted an OBP of .062.
Bountiful pushed their record up to 12-1 with the victory, which was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 11.8 runs this season. As for Northridge, their loss dropped their record down to 5-7.
Friday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Northridge hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .325. However, it's not like Bountiful struggles in that department as they've averaged .384. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Northridge suffered a grim 21-6 defeat to Bountiful in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Knights avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
