Recap: Alameda Pirates vs. Pomona Panthers

The Alameda Pirates suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Friday. They were outmatched by Pomona on the road and fell 50-22. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Alameda in their matchups with Pomona: they've now lost five in a row.

When it comes to explaining why Alameda lost, one person who can't be blamed is Lupita Solis. Despite the final result, she scored 12 points along with two steals.

Alameda's loss was their 16th straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 2-7. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 25.8 points per game. As for Pomona, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-5 record this season.

Alameda will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Evergreen at 7:30 p.m. Evergreen has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Pomona, they will head out on the road to challenge Standley Lake at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Standley Lake presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Pomona in Colorado (Standley Lake is ranked 39th, while Pomona is ranked 139th).
