Baseball Recap: Starkville Takes Down Ranked Clinton

On Friday, Starkville faced Clinton in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Starkville Yellowjackets came out on top against the Clinton Arrows by a score of 6-3. The victory continues a trend for the Yellowjackets in their matchups with the Arrows: they've now won four in a row.

Lucian Walker spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits.

At the plate, Jonas Coleman was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was his first of the season. Torian Knox was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Starkville's win bumped their record up to 7-2. As for Clinton, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-3.

Looking ahead, Starkville will host East Webster at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Starkville is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.3 runs per game this season. As for Clinton, they will venture away from home to take on Brookhaven at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
