Basketball Game Preview: Omaha Northwest Huskies vs. Omaha Central Eagles

Omaha Northwest is 0-10 against Omaha Central since March of 2016 but things could change on Friday. The Omaha Northwest Huskies will square off against the Omaha Central Eagles at 7:15 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

On Tuesday, Omaha Northwest lost to Lincoln High at home by a 76-58 margin. While losing is never fun, the Huskies can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 225th, while the Links are ranked 89th).

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was DeAnthony Wallace, who posted 11 points and seven rebounds. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in assists (three). Michael Dubose was another key player, putting up 15 points.

Meanwhile, Omaha Central was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They fell 66-57 to Lincoln North Star.

Omaha Central's loss dropped their record down to 7-12. As for Omaha Northwest, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-13.

Omaha Northwest was taken down by Omaha Central 86-43 when the teams last played back in December of 2022. Thankfully for Omaha Northwest, Awit Mamer (who went 8 of 14 on his way to 19 points and eight boards) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
