Football Recap: Troy Hailey Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Conway

Marlboro County lost to Conway back in September of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Friday. The Bulldogs had just enough and edged out the Tigers 12-10.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Marlboro County to victory, but perhaps none more so than Troy Hailey, who rushed for 108 yards and one TD on only 11 carries. The bulk of those rushing yards came from one huge play: a run that gained an incredible 55 yards. Marlboro County also got a significant boost from Khrishawn Smith, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 84 yards.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Marlboro County was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 308 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Conway only rushed for 86 rushing yards.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Marlboro County's defense and their 4.5 sacks. Patrick Williams Jr was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two himself. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 1.1 sacks per game. Marlboro County got some further help from Jaden Ashe: he picked up a sack and made 11 total tackles (3.0 for loss).

Marlboro County's win bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Conway, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Marlboro County will host North Myrtle Beach at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Conway, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Aynor at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
