Baseball Game Preview: Autaugaville Eagles vs. Autauga Academy Generals

The Autaugaville Eagles are packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game of the season: they will square off against the Autauga Academy Generals at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Autaugaville has given up an average of 6.5 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Autaugaville is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 12 runs on Tuesday, they were much more limited against Keith on Wednesday. They lost 11-2 to the Bears. Eagles fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Bears since on Wednesday.

Autauga Academy not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since February 22nd. They put the hurt on Verbena with a sharp 17-2 win. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Generals considering their one-run performance the game before.

Damien Dickerson and Cody Tornow did most of the damage at the plate: Dickerson went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, two stolen bases, and four RBI, while Tornow scored three runs and stole four bases while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances. Dickerson has become a key player for Autauga Academy: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 4-13 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Logan Dunaway, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

Autauga Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .625. The last time their OBP was this high was was before the start of last season.

Autauga Academy's victory ended an eight-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-14. As for Autaugaville, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-7.
