Recap: Ironwood Eagles vs. Paradise Valley Trojans

The Ironwood Eagles's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fourth straight loss. They suffered a rough 53-31 defeat at the hands of Paradise Valley. Ironwood was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 30-8.

Paradise Valley was led to victory by Olivia Kollie and Neha Patel. Kollie scored 11 points along with seven rebounds and seven steals, while Patel scored 21 points along with eight steals. Patel has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last six times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Emilee Resendez, who scored seven points along with eight rebounds and four steals.

Ironwood's loss was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 3-6. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 26.7 points per game. As for Paradise Valley, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ironwood is on the road again on Tuesday and play against Centennial at 7:00 p.m. on December 19th. Hopefully Centennial focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 on Wednesday. Paradise Valley will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Kellis at 7:00 p.m. on January 9, 2024.
