Basketball Recap: Lehigh's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Saturday

It was a good run, but Lehigh unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Saturday. They lost 81-56 to the Central Cobras.

Despite the loss, Lehigh still got an impressive performance from Kionus Walters, who went 8 for 20 on his way to 19 points and six boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Fritz Odige, who went 6 of 10 en route to 12 points.

Even though they lost, Lehigh smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since back in January of 2024.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Central to victory, but perhaps none more so than Joseph Gayle, who went 15 for 22 on his way to 31 points and six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Christopher Maxon, who almost dropped a double-double on 19 points and nine assists.

Lehigh's loss dropped their record down to 18-2. As for Central, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-7 record this season.

Lehigh will square off against Barron Collier at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Barron Collier is on a 12-game streak of home wins, Lehigh a ten-game streak of away wins (dating back to last season)-- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. As for Central, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 64-56 victory against Somerset Academy on the 20th.
