Softball Recap: Huntington Wins Going Away Against Ripley-Union-Lewis-Huntington

After only two runs in their last game, Huntington made sure to put some runs up on the board against Ripley-Union-Lewis-Huntington on Saturday. The Huntsmen put the hurt on the Blue Jays with a sharp 24-8 victory. Considering the Huntsmen have won eight matches by more than eight runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Huntington got a massive performance out of Savannah Bushatz, who went 4-for-6 with four runs, two doubles, and one triple. That's the most runs Bushatz has posted since back in March. Natalie Osborn was another key player, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs and four RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Huntington kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 24 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in four consecutive contests.

Huntington's win bumped their record up to 12-14. As for Ripley-Union-Lewis-Huntington, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-14.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Huntington will venture away from home to take on McClain at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Ripley-Union-Lewis-Huntington, they will take on Portsmouth West in a tournament on Monday. The Senators have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.74 runs per game on average), something the Blue Jays will no doubt try to take advantage of.
