Softball Recap: Seacrest Country Day Sets Scoring Season-High Against Everglades City

There's no place like home for Seacrest Country Day, who bounced back after a loss on the road two weeks ago. They blew past the Everglades City Gators 11-1 on Tuesday. The Stingrays' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Caroline Porter made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two).

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Maeve Magee-Fullam, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three doubles, four RBI, and two runs. Those hits marked the first that she got this season. Another player making a difference was Jolie Booth, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Seacrest Country Day always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .607. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Seacrest Country Day pushed their record up to 3-4 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Everglades City, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-4 record this season.
