Basketball Recap: Claxton Comes Up Short

Claxton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were three points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 57-54 heartbreaker at the hands of the Emanuel County Institute Bulldogs. The Tigers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Bulldogs earlier this season, when they won 83-55.

Despite the loss, Claxton still got an impressive performance from Isaiah Philyaw, who posted 20 points and seven rebounds. Philyaw is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last six games he's played. Javion Harper was another key player, putting up eight points along with seven boards and three steals.

Claxton's defeat dropped their record down to 5-12. As for Emanuel County Institute, their victory was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-11 and their overall record up to 2-14.

Claxton wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 74-65 loss against Metter on the 31st. As for Emanuel County Institute, they have also already played their next match, a 59-41 defeat against Bryan County on the 31st.
