League recap: Fleming extends winning streak with victory over Peetz

A-6 North (6 Man) recap Oct. 9, 2012

Fleming extended the longest winning streak in A-6 North (6 Man) this week by beating Peetz, 51-21. The win marks sixth in a row for the the Wildcats.

Jake Lukas-Gorman and Nathan Krise gave Briggsdale a balanced attack through the air and ground last week. Lukas-Gorman threw for 134 yards and two touchdowns, while Krise ran for 266 yards. Caleb Fassler also contributed to the rushing game with 19 yards on the ground.

Tom Karnik was the best wideout in the league this week as the Bulldogs lost to Fleming. Karnik tallied two receptions for 67 yards. Corbin Heller helped Peetz's passing attack out by catching one ball for 38 yards.

Fassler made the biggest impact on defense this week as the Falcons bested North Park. The 5-foot-11 junior forced one fumble.

Briggsdale's Lukas-Gorman and Austin Launer have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Lukas-Gorman has thrown for 883 yards this season, while Launer, a 6-foot-3 receiver, has 23 catches for 366 yards. Trevor Chintala from John King's team leads the league in rushing with 1224 yards.

The marquee game in A-6 North (6 Man) this week will be the clash between the Wildcats and Prairie. Fleming enters the contest ranked first in the state, while the Mustangs ranks 24th.

Krise of the Rick Mondt's team is only 25 yards short of surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the season. Krise has rushed for 975 yards on 102 carries so far this year.

Pawnee made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 311 from 407. The advance stemmed from a 28-8 victory over Prairie last week.
