Baseball Recap: Make It Two in a Row for Havana

Havana lost to Mt. Pulaski back in May of 2023, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Wednesday. The Ducks' pitcher stepped up to hand the Hilltoppers a 6-0 shutout. The game was the first time the Ducks have beaten the Hilltoppers on their field since May 10, 2017.

Carter Brooks made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out ten over seven innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Brooks wasn't the only one making solid contact as seven players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Owen Smith, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

The win made it two in a row for Havana and bumps their season record up to 10-16. The team dominated over those games too, winning by an average of 6 runs. As for Mt. Pulaski, their loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 18-5.

Coming up, Havana will host Canton at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Mt. Pulaski, they will venture away from home to challenge El Paso-Gridley at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
