Basketball Recap: Skyview Piles Up the Points Against Jefferson

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Skyview). They claimed a resounding 60-32 win over the Jefferson Saints. While the Wolverines didn't have the best season last year (they finished 5-18), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Skyview found their leader in sophomore Alex Lechuga, who went 9 of 13 en route to 19 points along with six boards and six steals. Those 19 points set a new season-high mark for Lechuga. The team also got some help courtesy of Gabriel Guevara, who posted eight points along with seven steals and five boards.

The victory was the third in a row for Skyview, bringing their record for this year to 4-1. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.7 points per game. As for Jefferson, they dropped their record down to 1-5 with the loss, which was their fourth straight at home.

Skyview and Kennedy will compete for holiday cheer at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Jefferson, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 63-51 defeat against Robert F. Smith STEAM Academy on the 18th.
