Basketball Recap: Eight Straight Road Victories for Chicopee Comp

Holyoke typically has all the answers at home, but on Friday Chicopee Comp proved too difficult a challenge. Everything went their way against the Holyoke Purple Knights as they made off with a 73-53 victory. For the Colts, this counts as revenge for the 88-78 win the Purple Knights walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Holyoke lost, don't look at Aiden Cabrera. Despite the final result, he went 9 for 21 en route to 20 points and four steals. Cabrera has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last nine times he's played. Another player making a difference was Jaycob Andujar, who posted 11 points and six rebounds.

Chicopee Comp pushed their record up to 12-4 with the victory, which was their eighth straight on the road. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.0 points over those games. As for Holyoke, they suffered their first home loss, dropping their record down to 12-3.

Coming up, Chicopee Comp will challenge Putnam Vo-Tech at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Holyoke, they will square off against West Springfield at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
