Basketball Recap: Mathis' Luck Changes for the Better on Tuesday

Mathis had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They secured a 41-37 W over the George West Longhorns on Tuesday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 34-32 back in January.

Several Longhorns players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kohen Blount, who dropped a double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Christopher Bernal, who went 5-for-6 to rack up 10 points and seven boards.

Mathis' victory bumped their record up to 13-14. As for George West, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 11-22.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Mathis is set to square off against their familiar foe Taft at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, George West will challenge rival Aransas Pass at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
