Softball Game Preview: Encinal Jets vs. Salesian College Preparatory Pride

The Encinal Jets will venture away from home to take on the Salesian College Preparatory Pride at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Encinal is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They blew past Benicia 15-4. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Jets considering their one-run performance the game before.

Kiely Wong was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Tamyrah Jamison, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Encinal hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in six consecutive contests.

Pinole Valley typically has all the answers at home, but on Friday Salesian College Preparatory proved too difficult a challenge. They beat the Spartans by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 11-1. The Pride are really starting to get used to good results now that the team has won 12 straight.

Encinal's record is now 14-11-1. As for Salesian College Preparatory, their record now sits at 20-2.

Encinal couldn't quite finish off Salesian College Preparatory when the teams last played back in March and fell 14-12. Can the Jets avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
