Baseball Game Preview: West Cabarrus Wolverines vs. Central Cabarrus Vikings

The West Cabarrus Wolverines will take on the Central Cabarrus Vikings in a tournament on Saturday. West Cabarrus' hitters haven't had much luck over their past three contests, but Saturday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

West Cabarrus fell victim to Cox Mill and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Chargers. The matchup marked the first time this season in which the Wolverines were not able to get on the board.

Meanwhile, Central Cabarrus also suffered a loss in their last game, falling to Robinson by a score of 11-6. The Vikings have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Garret Black was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Black was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

Black wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Paulie Coubal, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Camden Dowd also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

West Cabarrus' record is now 3-6. As for Central Cabarrus, their record now sits at 3-7.

Everything went West Cabarrus' way against Central Cabarrus in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, as West Cabarrus made off with an 11-1 victory. Does West Cabarrus have another victory up their sleeve, or will Central Cabarrus turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
