Softball Recap: Hornell Takes a Loss

Hornell lost against Midlakes back in May of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Red Raiders came up short against the Screaming Eagles, falling 13-2. The Red Raiders have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Alexis Smith spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and seven unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Izabella Gardner made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season.

Hornell's loss dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Midlakes, their win bumped their record up to 4-7.

While Hornell had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
