Softball Recap: Helena Wins High-Profile Match Against Chelsea

Helena faced Chelsea in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Huskies narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Hornets 6-5. This was a revenge game for the Huskies: when they faced off against the Hornets back in March, they had to take a 8-7 loss.

Helena got a great performance from Marlee Parsons as she struck out ten batters over 6.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits. Parsons has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Izzy Vice was a standout: she went 1-for-2 with one home run. Addison Draiss was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Helena lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted in their last 11 games.

The victory (which was Helena's third in a row) raised their record to 22-12-2. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 1.33 runs across that stretch. As for Chelsea, their defeat dropped their record down to 25-14-1.

Helena has already played their next contest, a 10-7 win against Spain Park on the 17th. As for Chelsea, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 5-4 loss against Austin on the 18th.
