Preview: Whitesboro Bearcats vs. Rains Wildcats
The Whitesboro Bearcats and the Rains Wildcats will round out the year against one another at 10:50 a.m. on Thursday at. Whitesboro will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 888th, while Rains is ranked 52nd).
Whitesboro's 26-10 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They were outmatched by Paradise at home and fell 52-25. Whitesboro has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Meanwhile, Rains came tearing into Tuesday's contest with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 42.6 points) and they left with even more momentum. Everything went their way against Chisum as Rains made off with a 58-37 victory. The result was nothing new for Rains, who have now won ten matchups by 21 points or more so far this season.
It was another big night for Jasey Campbell, who scored 18 points along with eight rebounds and seven steals. That's the first time this season that she pulled down eight or more rebounds. Ari Philson was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with three steals.
Whitesboro's loss dropped their record down to 3-10. As for Rains, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 17-2 record this season.
Whitesboro came up short against Rains in their previous meeting back in December of 2014, falling 52-45. Can Whitesboro avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
