Softball Game Preview: A.C. Reynolds Rockets vs. McDowell Titans

A.C. Reynolds and McDowell are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2016, but likely not for long. The Rockets will challenge the Titans at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.

A.C. Reynolds' pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. Everything went their way against T.C. Roberson as they made off with a 7-0 win. The Rockets haven't had any issues with the Rams recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive victory against them.

Kadyn Williams made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 11 over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, earning one RBI and two runs.

Williams wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Kaylea Harper, who went 1-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Autumn Edmonds was another, going 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, McDowell had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. They put the hurt on the Warriors with a sharp 14-3 win. Considering the Titans have won nine games by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

A.C. Reynolds' record now sits at 9-12. As for McDowell, their record is now 11-8.

A.C. Reynolds suffered a grim 13-2 defeat to McDowell when the teams last played on April 1st. Can the Rockets avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
