The Englewood Pirates are taking a road trip to challenge the Aurora Central Trojans at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
As a matter of fact, Englewood put up the most runs they have all season on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 25-7 margin over Denver West. The result was nothing new for the Pirates, who have now won seven games by seven runs or more so far this season.

Grant Pebbles made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with four runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Englewood got a massive performance out of Jason Medrano, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with four RBI, two runs, and one double. Those two runs gave Medrano a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Lort, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs, two doubles, and one stolen base.
Englewood always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Aurora Central, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They put the hurt on Overland with a sharp 15-5 victory on Monday.
Like Englewood, Aurora Central also got a great game from a two-way player: Kalai Bentosino. He struck out ten batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off seven hits (and only one walk). Bentosino has become a key player for Aurora Central: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least eight strikeouts, but 5-9 otherwise. Bentosino was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Eloy Sifuentes was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Aurora Central is undefeated when Sifuentes posts two or more runs, but 3-10 otherwise. Jose Gomez was another key player, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.
The win made it two in a row for Englewood and bumps their season record up to 8-7. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 18.0 runs over those games. As for Aurora Central, their record is now 7-10.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Englewood has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.6 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Aurora Central struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Englewood beat Aurora Central 10-6 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Do the Pirates have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Trojans turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
