Preview: Bunn Wildcats vs. Nash Central Bulldogs
Bunn is 2-7 against Nash Central since December of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Bunn Wildcats will head out on the road to square off against the Nash Central Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. Bunn is no doubt hoping to put an end to a six-game streak of away losses.
On Tuesday, Bunn lost to Southern Nash at home by a decisive 66-51 margin. Bunn has not had much luck with Southern Nash recently, as the team's come up short the last eight times they've met.
Bunn might have lost, but man, Jameir Strickland was a machine: he scored 24 points along with eight rebounds. That was a full 47.1% of Bunn's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. D.J. Smith was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with four steals.
Meanwhile, Nash Central managed to keep up with Northern Nash until halftime on Tuesday, but things quickly went downhill from there. Nash Central was dealt a 76-48 defeat at the hands of Northern Nash. While losing is never fun, Nash Central can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 573rd, while Northern Nash is ranked 147th).
Bunn has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-13 record this season. As for Nash Central, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-17.
Bunn beat Nash Central 48-36 when the teams last played back in January. The rematch might be a little tougher for Bunn since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
