Softball Recap: Seymour Indians vs. Liberty Eagles
With a playoff game on the line, Seymour rose to the challenge on Friday. They never let the Liberty Eagles onto the board and left with a 1-0 win. The victory was nothing new for Seymour as they're now sitting on three straight.
The result came thanks to Abby Hagerbaumer's shutout, as she gave up just three hits and racked up 19 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't pitched less than six innings in four consecutive pitching appearances.
At the plate, Seymour saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Samantha Hugenberg, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with an RBI.
On Liberty's side, Chandler John spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered one run (which was unearned) on five hits and racked up seven Ks.
Seymour's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 16-16. As for Liberty, their loss dropped their record down to 18-12.
