Football Recap: SelPort Comes Up Short

SelPort was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat dating back to last season. They took a blow against the Wellpinit Redskins, falling 44-12. If the Lumberjacks were looking for revenge after losing 44-0 to the Redskins when the teams met back in October of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Despite the loss, SelPort still got an impressive performance from Slate Parker (Selkirk), who rushed for 100 yards and a pair of scores on only six carries. The Lumberjacks also got a significant boost from Blaine Rieckers (Northport), who ran away from the competition to the tune of 93 yards.

SelPort's loss dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Wellpinit, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-2.

Looking ahead, SelPort will square off against Cusick at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Lumberjacks will be up against the Panthers' rather soft defense (which has allowed 52.4 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Wellpinit, they will face off against Wilbur-Creston-Keller at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Redskins will need to watch out since the Wildcats have now posted at least 31 points in their last three games.
