Basketball Game Preview: Albia Blue Demons vs. Pleasantville Trojans

The Albia Blue Demons will challenge the Pleasantville Trojans at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Albia will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.

Last Tuesday, Albia was able to grind out a solid win over Davis County, taking the game 50-40. Given the Blue Demons' advantage in MaxPreps' Iowa basketball rankings (they are ranked 84th, while the Mustangs are ranked 234th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Pleasantville hadn't done well against Chariton recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. Pleasantville came out on top against Chariton by a score of 48-36. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Trojans.

Albia has also been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 14 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.9 points per game. As for Pleasantville, their victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 11-8.

Albia beat Pleasantville 33-20 in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. Does Albia have another victory up their sleeve, or will Pleasantville turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
