Football Recap: Lake Worth Takes a Loss

Monday just wasn't the day for Lake Worth's offense. They were outmatched by the Somerset Academy - Canyons Cougars and fell 52-0. The Trojans haven't had much luck with the Cougars recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

A big part of Somerset Academy - Canyons' victory came down to the chemistry between Ava Wotipka and her top target Jayda Simmons. Wotipka threw for 183 yards and five touchdowns while completing 90.5% of her passes while Simmons gained 169 total yards and two touchdowns. What's more, Simmons racked up 63 receiving yards, the most she's had since back in March of 2024. Delanie Doty also helped with two scores in total.

Lake Worth's loss dropped their record down to 0-7. As for Somerset Academy - Canyons, their record now sits at 10-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lake Worth will host Boynton Beach at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Somerset Academy - Canyons, they will take on Pine at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Cougars are facing the Knights at the right time seeing as the Knights are stuck on an eight-game losing streak.
