Football Recap: Zechariah James Leads North Mecklenburg's Defense on Friday + How To Watch

North Mecklenburg was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. The matchup between the Vikings and the Chambers Cougars didn't end well, with the Vikings falling 21-6. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Vikings of the 38-12 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2024.

Even if they lost, North Mecklenburg's defense still kept up the pressure with four sacks. Zechariah James was especially locked on to Chambers' QB and sacked him twice.

A big part of Chambers' victory came down to the chemistry between Zyon Hailey and his top target Malachi Gant. Hailey threw for 111 yards and two TDs while Gant gained 108 total yards. What's more, Hailey racked up 134.9 passer rating, the most he's had since back in October of 2024.

North Mecklenburg's defeat dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Chambers, they moved to 4-4 with that win, which also ended their four-game losing streak.
