Softball Recap: Eagle Point Beats Thurston for Their Sixth Straight Win

Eagle Point extended their winning streak to six on Tuesday, bumping their season record up to 8-5 in the process. Everything went their way against the Thurston Colts as they made off with a 15-7 win. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won seven matches by seven runs or more so far this season.

Eagle Point let Sarah Estes and Kady Ledbetter run wild. Estes went 3-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base, while Ledbetter went 2-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI. Those two doubles gave Ledbetter a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Madisyn Dean, who went 2-for-5 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Eagle Point kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 20 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in six consecutive games.

As for Thurston, their defeat ended a ten-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 11-3. Colts fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against Eagle Point since on Tuesday.

On Thurston's side, Daphnie Heckel made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Kassy Anderson, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs and two doubles.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Eagle Point beat Thurston by a score of 9-8 on Saturday.
