Softball Recap: Jefferson County Comes Up Short

Jefferson County was the 6-5 winner over Greeneville when they last played one another back in March, but their luck changed this time around. The Patriots fell just short of the Greene Devils by a score of 8-6 on Wednesday. The Patriots have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Kaycee Morgan put in work no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing seven innings while giving up just two earned (and six unearned) runs off eight hits. Morgan was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

In other batting news, Ansley Housewright was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Jefferson County's defeat dropped their record down to 13-17-1. As for Greeneville, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 18-13.

Jefferson County does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Greeneville, they will square off against Grainger at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
