Recap: Rocky River Ravens vs. East Mecklenburg Eagles
Even though the East Mecklenburg Eagles scored an imposing 58 points on Friday, the Rocky River Ravens still came out on top. Rocky River walked away with a 66-58 victory over East Mecklenburg. The score was all tied up 30-30 at the break, but Rocky River was the better team in the second half.
Rocky River got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Shamari Johnson out in front who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 rebounds. Johnson has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last 11 times he's played. Another player making a difference was Jayden Ross, who scored 17 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
East Mecklenburg lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Ahmari Hicks, who scored 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Buzzard, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 rebounds.
Rocky River is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a massive bump to their 9-10 record this season. As for East Mecklenburg, they dropped their record down to 10-9 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home.
Rocky River will take on Charlotte Catholic at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for East Mecklenburg, they will head out on the road to take on Garinger at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Garinger is coming into the matchup on a six-game losing streak.
