Softball Recap: Derby Takes a Loss

After some red-hot attacks at the plate in their last three contests, Derby finally came back down to earth on Monday. They came up short against the Holy Cross Crusaders, falling 13-0. The Red Raiders have struggled against the Crusaders recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.

Derby saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ari McNeill, who went 1-for-2 with one double.

Derby's loss dropped their record down to 2-13. As for Holy Cross, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 9-5.

Coming up, Derby will head out to take on St. Paul Catholic at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Holy Cross, they will take on Seymour at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Wildcats' pitching crew has only allowed 1.8 runs per game this season, so the Crusaders' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
