Basketball Preview: Bethel Assembly Christian Academy Eagles vs. Suffolk Christian Academy Knights
Bethel Assembly Christian Academy has enjoyed the comforts of home their last three games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will square off against the Suffolk Christian Academy Knights at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Bethel Assembly Christian Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Friday.
On Friday, Bethel Assembly Christian Academy was beaten by the 75-45. Bethel Assembly Christian Academy was down 58-31 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.
Despite their loss, Bethel Assembly Christian Academy saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Bryce Conner, who scored 28 points along with two steals, was perhaps the best of all. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Conner has scored all season. Another player making a difference was McKinley Conner, who scored eight points along with 11 rebounds and five steals.
Even though Suffolk Christian Academy has not done well against the Eagles recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Suffolk Christian Academy came out on top against the Eagles by a score of 54-44. The victory was some much needed relief for Suffolk Christian Academy as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Suffolk Christian Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than De'Sean Stevenson, who scored 19 points along with seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Luke Ott, who scored 16 points.
Bethel Assembly Christian Academy's loss was their seventh straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-17. As for Suffolk Christian Academy, their win bumped their record up to 6-17.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Bethel Assembly Christian Academy have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 31.9 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Suffolk Christian Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 23.7 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Bethel Assembly Christian Academy took a serious blow against the Knights in their previous matchup back in January, falling 53-25. Can Bethel Assembly Christian Academy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
