Softball Recap: Jefferson County Christian Royals vs. Catholic Central Crusaders

Jefferson County Christian extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to five on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 0-3 in the process. They came up short against the Catholic Central Crusaders, falling 18-8. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Crusaders this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 22-17 last Tuesday.

As for Catholic Central, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.3 runs over those games.

For Catholic Central's part, Gianna Lemal was a standout: she went a perfect 4-for-4 with four stolen bases, four RBI, and one run. Miriam Free was another key player, going 3-for-5 with three stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI.

Jefferson County Christian will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against Wellsville at 5:00 p.m. on May 2.
