Union County saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Logan Boone, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run. Boone has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.
Meanwhile, Indianapolis Kings hadn't done well against Warren Central recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. Austin Kelly was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Kelly was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and one run. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Will Siegfried, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April. Jeffrey Wheeler was another key player, getting on base in both of his plate appearances with two stolen bases.
Indianapolis Kings has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-6-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for Union County, their loss dropped their record down to 7-16.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Saturday as neither team is afraid to steal.
