Football Game Preview: Chico Panthers vs. Shasta Wolves + How To Watch

The Chico Panthers will face off against the Shasta Wolves at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Chico's defense has only allowed 14.4 points per game this season, so Shasta's offense will have their work cut out for them.

Chico is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 52 points last Friday, they were much more limited against Pleasant Valley on Friday. They took a 16-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Vikings. The matchup marked the Panthers' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Meanwhile, Shasta was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were six points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 34-28 heartbreaker at the hands of Enterprise.

Despite the defeat, Shasta saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Deven Ortega rushed for 161 yards and two scores while picking up 10.1 yards per carry. The Wolves are 2-1 when Ortega posts two or more rushing touchdowns, but 0-4 otherwise.

Shasta's loss dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Chico, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 6-1.

Chico came up short against Shasta in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, falling 20-14. Thankfully for the Panthers, Justin Polley (who threw for 179 yards and a pair of TDs, and also rushed for 44 yards) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
