Washington proved they can win big on Monday (they won by three) and on Wednesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out the La Joya Community Fighting Lobos 3-2. This was a revenge game for the Rams: when they faced off against the Fighting Lobos back in September, they had to take a 3-0 loss.
If you add up the scores from across all five sets (105-94) Washington actually scored fewer points, but in the end it didn't matter. The final score came out to 16-25, 25-22, 25-20, 13-25, 15-13.
Washington found their leader in sophomore Ivey Orozco, who had nine digs and three aces. Camille Harp also deserves some recognition as she had her first blocks of the season.
Washington is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-16 record this season. As for La Joya Community, their defeat ended a five-match streak of away wins and brought them to 14-10.
As of now, neither Washington nor the Fighting Lobos have any future games scheduled.
