Basketball Recap: Greene County Takes a Loss

Greene County and Tuscaloosa Academy squared off in some playoff action on Monday, but Greene County had to settle for second. They came up short against the Tuscaloosa Academy Knights, falling 65-44. The Tigers haven't had much luck with the Knights recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.

When it comes to explaining why Greene County lost, don't look at Za'Kyia Manning. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 17 points and 12 rebounds. Manning is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down ten or more in the last 11 games she's played. R'Kajah Nickson was another key player, putting up eight points and ten rebounds.

Even though they lost, Greene County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 25 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive rebounds in 19 consecutive contests.

Greene County's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-9. As for Tuscaloosa Academy, their win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-4.

As of now, neither Greene County nor Tuscaloosa Academy have any future games scheduled.
