Softball Recap: Eastlake Takes a Loss

Eastlake's last matchup with Socorro could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's matchup on Friday. The Eastlake Falcons came up short against the Socorro Bulldogs, falling 19-11. The Falcons have struggled against the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost meetings.

Zaira Mendoza led a balanced group of hitters, going 1-for-5 with one home run and three RBI. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in RBI. Another player making a difference was Samantha Ponce, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

Eastlake's loss dropped their record down to 16-8. As for Socorro, they pushed their record up to 19-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home.

Coming up, Eastlake will take on Eastwood at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Eastwood will roll in looking for their 13th straight victory, something Eastlake surely won't give up without a fight. Socorro will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Franklin at 6:30 p.m. on March 25th.
