Baseball Game Preview: Long Beach Poly Jackrabbits vs. Compton Tarbabes

Long Beach Poly has gone a perfect 10-0 against Compton recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Jackrabbits will be playing in front of their home fans against the Tarbabes at 4:00 p.m. Long Beach Poly's pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so Compton's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

The home team had come away the winner the last four times Long Beach Poly and Woodrow Wilson had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Jackrabbits took a 5-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bruins on Wednesday. The Jackrabbits haven't had much luck with the Bruins recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Long Beach Poly got a good showing from Ryan King, who tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits. King also tossed no walks, which is notable because the Jackrabbits are 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 10-11 otherwise.

At the plate, Long Beach Poly saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Deven Munoz, who went 2-for-3 with one run. Lucas Guggenheim also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Meanwhile, Compton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They fell 6-3 to Cabrillo.

Long Beach Poly's defeat dropped their record down to 12-12. As for Compton, their loss dropped their record down to 8-12-1.

Long Beach Poly was able to grind out a solid win over Compton when the teams last played back in April, winning 4-0. Will the Jackrabbits repeat their success, or do the Tarbabes have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
