Softball Recap: North Side Steers vs. Paschal Panthers

After flying high against Wyatt last Friday, North Side came back down to earth. The North Side Steers fell just short of the Paschal Panthers by a score of 6-4 on Friday.

Natalia Olvera spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and two unearned) runs on ten hits. What's more, she gave up only four walks, the fewest she's had since back in April of 2024.

On the hitting side, Maggie Casteneda was cooking despite her team's loss, firing off two home runs and three RBI while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

North Side's loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 4-6. As for Paschal, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-10 record this season.

Coincidentally, North Side and Paschal will both be playing Polytechnic the next time they take the field. North Side will head out to face Polytechnic at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, while Paschal will host them at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
