Baseball Recap: Nipomo Comes Up Short

Nipomo made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Righetti, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Titans fell just short of the Warriors by a score of 5-3 on Saturday. The Titans haven't had much luck with the Warriors recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Nipomo saw eight different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aden Willis, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. Willis is becoming a predictor of the Titans' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 4-1 (and 5-12 when he doesn't). Ryan Barr also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Nipomo's loss dropped their record down to 9-13. As for Righetti, their record now sits at 15-10.

Nipomo and Righetti could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. The Titans will take on Morro Bay at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank disadvantage (672 vs. 298). Meanwhile, Righetti (ranked 201st) will meet St. Joseph (ranked 51st) at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
