Baseball Recap: Rock Ridge Phoenix vs. Tuscarora Huskies
Rock Ridge had lost 12 straight at home dating back to last season, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 1-13 to make it 13. They came up short against the Tuscarora Huskies, falling 15-1. If the Phoenix were looking for revenge after losing 13-3 to the Huskies when the teams met back in May of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.
Rock Ridge saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nikhil Middha, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
As for Tuscarora, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-10 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games.
On Tuscarora's side, Caleb Kim looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. What's more, Kim posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024.
At the plate, Michael Kozikowski was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three stolen bases, and three RBI. He has become a key player for Tuscarora: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least three hits, but 4-9 otherwise. Liam Hurst also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Rock Ridge has already played their next game (against Langley), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Tuscarora also has no score uploaded for their next match, this one against Broad Run.
