Baseball Game Preview: Turkeyfoot Valley Area Rams vs. Ferndale Yellow Jackets

Turkeyfoot Valley Area is preparing for their first conference matchup of the season on Wednesday. They will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on the Ferndale Yellow Jackets at 4:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Turkeyfoot Valley Area has three straight wins, Ferndale has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Turkeyfoot Valley Area is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Hundred 19-5 on Wednesday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

Lee Bowers was a standout: he scored two runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-4. He also put up a double, which was his first of the season. Luke Bowers was another key player, scoring three runs while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances.

Lee wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Turkeyfoot Valley Area kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits every time they've taken the field this season.

Meanwhile, Ferndale lost 8-1 to Shanksville Stonycreek on Tuesday.

Turkeyfoot Valley Area pushed their record up to 3-1 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.3 runs over those games. As for Ferndale, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-4.

Turkeyfoot Valley Area couldn't quite get it done against Ferndale in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 as they fell 9-5. Can the Rams avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
