Softball Recap: West Limestone Extends Winning Streak to Eight

West Limestone waltzed into their matchup on Thursday with seven straight wins... but they left with eight. They blew past the Clements Colts 17-2. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine contests by seven runs or more this season.

Katie Lyn Kyle was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits (and only one walk). Kyle was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Lilly Bethune was incredible, firing off two home runs, six RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-3. That's the most RBI she has posted over her last 13 games. Haley Waggoner was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one double.

West Limestone hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most four strikeouts in 12 consecutive matchups.

West Limestone's victory bumped their record up to 14-2. As for Clements, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season.

West Limestone has already played their next game, a 5-1 win against Ardmore on the 7th. As for Clements, they will host Elkmont at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Clements has given up an average of 8.8 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
