Basketball Game Preview: Valley Pirates vs. Fort Thomas Apaches

The Valley Pirates will take on the Fort Thomas Apaches at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

As a matter of fact, Valley put up the most points they have all season on Tuesday. They managed a 70-64 win over Ganado. The Pirates haven't had any issues with the Hornets recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Valley's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jayquan Allen led the charge by almost dropping a double-double with 21 points and nine rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Jake Apachee, who posted 19 points along with seven boards and four steals.

Valley smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Fort Thomas blew past Duncan, posting a 65-37 win. Give the Apaches' offense some serious credit: that high-scoring performance was actually the fewest points they've scored all season.

Fort Thomas' victory bumped their record up to 5-0. As for Valley, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-4.

Valley lost to Fort Thomas on the road by a decisive 55-36 margin when the teams last played back in December of 2023. Can the Pirates avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
