Baseball Recap: Manteo Has No Trouble Against First Flight

While Manteo didn't have the best season last year (they finished 10-14), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They blew past the First Flight Nighthawks 17-8 on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Redskins, who have now won five matches by seven runs or more so far this season.

Manteo let Mason McCord and Drew Brown run wild. McCord scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4, while Brown got on base in four of his six plate appearances with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those three hits gave McCord a new career-high. Jack Woodson was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

Manteo's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-2. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for First Flight, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-4.

Manteo didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 7-5 win against Currituck County on the 25th. As for First Flight, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 10-0 defeat against Camden County on the 25th.
