Basketball Recap: Asheboro Hybrid Academy Snags Fourth Victory in Last Five Games

Vandalia Christian came into Saturday's game looking for another win against Asheboro Hybrid Academy, but Landon Hudson wouldn't allow it. The Asheboro Hybrid Academy Warriors escaped with a win on Saturday against the Vandalia Christian Vikings by the margin of a single free throw, 58-57 thanks in part to Hudson, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 21 boards. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 8.3 rebounds per game.

Several Vikings players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Izzi Settle, who posted 15 points and six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Chase Buie, who put up 14 points.

Asheboro Hybrid Academy has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.0 points per game. As for Vandalia Christian, they are on a ten-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-9.

After both having extra time off, Asheboro Hybrid Academy and Father Capodanno will dust off their jerseys to face off against one another at 6:30 p.m. on January 6, 2025. Asheboro Hybrid Academy is facing Father Capodanno at the right time seeing as Father Capodanno is stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Vandalia Christian, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 95-77 loss against Liberty Christian on the 16th.
